JERUSALEM, October 26, 2024 — Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is deeply concerned for the safety and whereabouts of Dr. Mohammed Obeid, an MSF orthopedic surgeon who was sheltering and working in Kamal Adwan Hospital, northern Gaza, with whom we lost contact since the afternoon of October 25.
The hospital and its surroundings have been subjected to intense military operations by Israeli forces, and recent media reports indicate several medical staff were detained this morning. We are trying to get in touch with our colleague and are urgently seeking information about his whereabouts. We call for his safety and protection, as well as for all medical staff in Gaza.
